International Translation Day 2020 — ‘Finding the words for a world in crisis’.
In 1991, the International Federation of Translators (FIT) launched a campaign to officially recognize International Translation Day, to pay tribute to the work of language professionals, who play an important role in facilitating dialogue, understanding and cooperation between people and nations.
In May of 2017, the General Assembly adopted resolution 71/288 on the role of language professionals and declared September 30th as International Translation Day

The International Federation of Translators (FIT) proudly announced the winner of its annual poster competition commemorating International Translation Day (ITD) each September 30th.
“Translators, terminologists, and interpreters provide crucial services both on the front line and behind the news in crisis situations, so let’s celebrate our contributions amongst ourselves as well as provide the general public with information about our work,” states the FIT website.
