Building the Language Infrastructure Behind an International Climate Workshop

An international organization focused on climate action and air quality regularly convenes policymakers, researchers, technical experts, and government representatives from around the world. 

One workshop in Mexico City would bring together participants from multiple countries and require communication across five languages. 

Securing interpreters was only one piece of the equation. 

Interpretation equipment had to function reliably throughout the event. Language channels needed to be configured correctly. Technical support had to be available the moment an issue arose. With delegates travelling internationally to attend, there was little room for error. 

The organization had previously worked with different providers in different regions and was looking for a more streamlined strategy. 

Interpret Group became involved during the planning stage, helping assess venue requirements and design an interpretation setup tailored to the event. 

A team of interpreters, technicians, and supervisors was assembled to oversee delivery on-site. Dedicated language channels allowed participants to follow discussions in their preferred language, while continuous technical monitoring helped ensure uninterrupted access throughout the workshop. 

The project required close coordination with a separate AV team, with three Interpret Group technicians on-site to manage interpretation equipment and language channels, distribute receivers, and troubleshoot technical issues as they arose. 

Participants were able to engage fully in discussions regardless of language background, allowing the event to remain focused on its objectives rather than operational challenges. 

The success of the workshop led to additional opportunities to support the organization’s events in other locations, reinforcing the value of a single partner capable of coordinating the many moving parts involved in multilingual events.
