In corporate settings, interpreters often become silent witnesses to sensitive conversations happening behind closed doors. Whether you’re sharing projections for a new market, navigating legal complexities, or discussing employee health concerns, interpreting services must protect that information with the same rigor as any other business partner.

Interpret Group recognizes that confidentiality is not merely a professional courtesy, but a critical operational requirement. Our clients rely on us to ensure that information remains secure and private throughout the entire engagement lifecycle—before, during, and after the assignment.

Let’s take a look at how Interpret Group keeps your company’s information safe, no matter the interpreting format.

Contractual and Ethical Safeguards

Mandatory Non-Disclosure Agreements

All interpreters are required to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) prior to receiving any briefing materials or sensitive client information. These NDAs are tailored to reflect the nature of the engagement and the sensitivity of the data involved. They provide a clear legal basis for confidentiality obligations and outline the consequences of any breach.

Adherence to Professional Standards

Interpret Group exclusively engages interpreters who adhere to the ethical codes established by international professional bodies, including the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC) and the American Translators Association (ATA). These codes place confidentiality at the core of interpreter conduct, reinforcing the requirement to maintain strict discretion in all professional contexts.

Confidential Handling and Disposal of Client Materials

Client-provided materials, including presentation slides, contracts, technical documents, and background briefs, are handled with care and confidentiality. All files are securely deleted or returned upon the conclusion of the assignment, unless otherwise instructed. Interpret Group maintains internal procedures to ensure that no residual data from any engagement is stored, shared, or left vulnerable after the conclusion of services. When necessary we also leverage secure platforms for all document exchanges and communications, safeguarding sensitive information at every stage of the engagement.

Discussions Stay Within the Project

Interpreters are explicitly prohibited from discussing any aspect of an assignment with individuals not directly involved in the project. This restriction includes the content of discussions, the identity of participants, and the nature of the event. These limitations remain in force indefinitely, regardless of the duration of the assignment. It’s a simple rule, and we stand by it: if you weren’t in the room, you don’t hear about it.

No Unauthorized Recording or Sharing

Interpret Group enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy on unauthorized documentation, recording, or sharing of any assignment-related information. Interpreters are prohibited from  recording sessions, or disclosing details through digital, social media, or personal channels, regardless of the perceived sensitivity. Confidentiality Clauses in All Agreements

Confidentiality provisions are embedded in all client contracts, interpreter agreements, and vendor relationships. These clauses align with industry best practices and provide legally enforceable mechanisms to safeguard client information. Confidentiality clauses are built into all our agreements and reviewed regularly, adding an extra layer of protection for our clients.

Augmented Measures for Remote Interpreting Assignments

Use of Secure Videoconferencing Platforms

All virtual interpreting sessions hosted by Interpret Group are conducted using encrypted, enterprise-grade videoconferencing platforms such as Zoom for Business and Microsoft Teams. These platforms are configured with password protection, waiting room functionality, and access controls to ensure that only authorized participants can join. This protects the integrity of each session and prevents unauthorized access or disruptions in real time.

Private and Controlled Interpreter Workspaces

Interpreters are required to work in secure and private environments, free from disruptions and not accessible to unauthorized individuals. Equipment used must meet professional standards for audio quality and data security.

Confidentiality Briefings for Remote Projects

Before each remote assignment, interpreters receive a formal briefing that includes project-specific confidentiality requirements. This may involve the use of virtual private networks (VPNs), anonymized participant identifiers, or other data handling instructions provided by the client.
